the naked dance

dancing in the fields
naked and in love
hearing every sound
the cooing of doves
a blanket on the ground
where they lie and rest
finally it happened
did she pass the test
so very young
inexperienced, and shy
she gave herself to him
she inwardly cried
but what of tomorrow
would love find a way
would he say goodbye
or would he stay
was it enough
she gave her body and soul
he didn’t say I love you
perhaps he wasn’t bold
tomorrow came and went
it was never about romance
never heard from him again
remembering the naked dance

Nicely written, so many have taken the same path, to come away slightly disillusioned.

Great poem Sally. Sad but true. I reckon the majority of girls lose it to smeone who doesn’t love them.
