A GOOD MAN

Teetering in the balance
Between life and eternity
Hues of red and blue
Are all he can see
Memories that flickered
Have all disappeared
He knows in a moment
An Angel will appear
Feeling the presence
Of a heavenly choir
To have peace
Is his only desire
Life on this earth
Was too much to bare
His life difficult
Never seemed fair
A good man he was
Took care of everyone else
But when it came to him
He was put on a shelf
Ignored by family
Friends went away
Frail and ill
Death would come today
Jovial and happy
When he was young
Always with people
Having so much fun
When he got older
Illness took it’s toll
Forsaken by those that he loved
While he was growing old
Excuses were given
Why no one was there
He laid in a hospital
With one prayer
That he could leave this earth
And no longer cry
It was his time
To finally die
To go home
Where he belonged
Life was over
The end of his song
The Angels came
He swirled from his bed
They took his hand
But he was not dead
He was reborn
Into a life of peace so sincere
An Angel whispered I love you
Into his ear
The Gates of Heaven
Flew open
Jesus was there
He said come my friend
I’ll hold you near
There was a choir singing for him
A man just neglected
Who lived without sin
How sad life can be
For those forgotten souls
Who lived a good life
And then are sick and old
No one wants to face
The sheer reality
That one day
That’s what their life can be
A GOOD MAN
