It was a house of stone
She lived alone
Needed someone
To call her own
She sat by the window
Looking into space
Perhaps she was looking
For a handsome face
Her clothes were dull
No color on her cheeks
Her life going no where
It was bleak
Her walls were dark
Her drapes way too dim
All her thoughts
Were of meeting a special “him”
She sat by her lonesome
No fragrance in the air
She wondered if she would meet “him”
When or where
She looked in the mirror
And screamed what have I done
I now look
Like a cloistered nun
She colored her hair
Had a glass of wine
Put on her make-up
Looked mighty fine
Put a flower
In her hair
Earrings hanging long
Suddenly she had a new flair
Certainly a beauty
Time to meet
A special “him”
So very sweet
Danced all night
Met that special “him”
Love sparkled around
As it should have been
In her house of stone
Laughter now rings
And life is happy
That’s what love brings
