LET US NOT FORGET

Thank you Julie!!!! This poem was inspired by Julie Marks “Plant Abstract”...please
check out her other awesome artwork on RB

LET US NOT FORGET belongs to the following groups:

Complex Simplicity of Art, All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, End Times and WMG

It was a September day
All the world was silent
The birds stopped singing
The quiet before the violence

The sky seemed strange
Had never looked that way before
It was a slow process
Before the colors began to pour

The sun fanned out
From the sky blue streaked down
Blue faded into green
Red bled into brown

Crashing went the planes
The buildings toppled to the ground
Fire and death
Were all around

Smoldering ashes
Debris was left
Families missing loved ones
So many bereft

Police and Firemen
Lost their lives
Trying to get victims
Out of the buildings alive

Heroes one and all
Their souls went to Heaven
LET US NOT FORGET
What happened on 9/11

Sally, if my work can inspire such amazing poetry, I must trust my perceptions about what to upload if only to engage your eloquent and poetic mind. This is a fantastic association to my photograph and I am glad you referred to the pouring of colors. I can see why the plant abstract ignited your creative imagination. Outstanding work!!

a really moving work sally, it brought me back to my experience on the day watching in disbelief as they replayed the strikes over and over, i remember sitting in stunned silence. yes, all the way from australia here, it really was a day the world stood still and changed forever, it will never be forgotten as an event, but maybe reminders like your poem will keep it more than an historical event. chris

like jase8812 said, I knew what this piece was about the minute I started reading it. Its a hard topic but one that has to be discussed. poetry like this is cathartic. years later, I still have never been to Ground Zero. That’s not my NY. Great poem. almost makes a tragedy beautiful

Sally, you’ve done this story in a way that shows honor and respect for all. No long drawn out horror story here. Simply stated and very well done. I think it’s an award winning piece actually and I just love it.
