NATIVE SPIRIT WOLF

In the forest
So many sounds
The baying of wolves
The howling of hounds
Native Spirit Wolf walks
Silently in between
Holding hands
With his queen
The wolves and hounds
In the night
Need to satisfy
Their appetite
Their steps are careful
They watch their prey
Kill at night
Eat all day
Native Spirit Wolf watches
Says not a word
Understands the sounds
Of every bird
He descends from the Heavens
When all men are asleep
Watching over those animals
His heart does keep
He remembers the hunt
And the thrill
Of the many beasts
He had killed
The Native Spirit Wolf
Knows that now there is no tomorrow
And his heart
Is filled with much sorrow
He has one wish
To go back in time
When life was rich
And his tribe so fine
The white man came
There were no goodbyes
The men were killed
The women cried
Soon all were gone
Nothing ever was the same
To the Spirit World
Their lives remain
He comes to visit
When he can
With leaves
He makes a crown
And places it on his Queen
The most beautiful squaw
Ever to be seen
Life has ended
Many moons before
When the Spirit World
Opened its door
