TWO GLASSES OF WINE

I saw him
One lovely afternoon
I think it was May
Perhaps it was June
His eyes like stars
Shining in the sky
He made my heart jump
And start to fly
I wanted to tell him
How I felt
I couldn’t speak
Thought my heart would melt
A friend came by
The introduction was quite simple
And then I noticed
His chin had a dimple
He had a raspy voice
When he spoke
He drank so slowly
His rum and coke
A gentleman in every way
Polished and very polite
I smiled at him
And we spoke most of the night
When it was time to leave
I noticed his wedding band
As he said good night
And extended his hand
Now thinking back
Was he really so fine
Or was it because I drank
TWO GLASSES OF WINE
