WHEN I LOOK AT THE MOON

The leaves were burning
The odor permeated the air
The sound of rustling
Who was there?
The sound of a voice
I heard before
I quickly walked back to my door
The voice was sweet
And I remembered so well
Her smiling face
And I could tell
She came to visit me
Out of the night
She was my Mother
Always a delight
She said so softly
“Cara Mia”
But I stood there
And I couldn’t see her
She left this earth
Way too soon
But I always think of her
WHEN I LOOK AT THE MOON

Although it’s strange
I still feel her here
And so often
Will shed a tear
I closed my eyes and listened
Just hearing the wind
And remember
How sweet life had been
As a child
Her holding my hand
The thought of her
Takes me to another land
I shivered a little
In the air was a chill
I have always loved her
And always will
I go out in the evening
And listen to the wind’s tune
I hear her voice
WHEN I LOOK AT THE MOON

WHEN I LOOK AT THE MOON
