Words came slowly
As if strained
Her body old
Her mind drained
There had been hard times
Through her many years
Weeping and sadness
So many tears
As a child she was poor
With not much to eat
No shoes
Always barefeet
As she got older
She went astray
And lived her life
In a sinful way
She reached a point
Of no return
And now feared
In Hell she would burn
She went to confession
Seeking to be redeemed
But could hardly speak
Her life a dream
The priest was patient
And tried to listen
Could hear her weeping
Her tears glistened
She spoke of a life
Of men she didn’t know
Of going fast
Never slow
Never knew how to love
Was treated with no respect
But knew in her life
It was she who did elect
A lifestyle wild
And on the run
Only thought of herself
And having fun
Obessed by rich food
And possessions
Now seeking absolution
In confession
The priest asked her
If she had regrets
And she said yes
And she had many debts
To those she hurt
And those she led down the wrong path
Feeling now
She was in God’s wrath
The priest gave her
A Hail Mary to say
And said “You are forgiven
Go on your way”
She said the prayer
And took her last breathe
Before her death
She had a life of passion
And a life of pain
But she was forgiven
Brought to the fold again
Repentent souls
Will be led by the Angels to that Place
And be allowed
