ONE OF MY BOYS

ONE OF MY BOYS belongs to the following groups:

Voices for Animals

He followed me home
As cats often do
They seem to know
I love them too
I picked him up
Very carefully
And right away
He purred at me
I opened a bag
Of crunchies for him
He was so hungry
What a sin
I wondered
When he had eaten last
And wondered about
His secret past
Was he someone’s cat
Were they searching for him
Wondering where he is
And where he had been
Put in a newspaper ad
“Found a cat orange and white
A real beauty
A real delight
If he belongs to you
Please call a the number below
Leave a message…I’ll call back
And I will be happy to show
This kitty with such a fine disposition
Left in the street
In a hungry condition”
I still can’t fanthom
How anyone could leave
This little kitten
Who fit in my sleeve
On the street
All alone
Scared and worried
On his own
How cruel could someone
Possibly be
To do this to a cat
Couldn’t they see
He formed a bond
And was tossed away
I just hope one day
Someone will pay
So I spoiled him
With all special toys
And he just fits in
And now he’s ONE OF MY BOYS

PLEASE ADOPT A PET
SAVE A LIFE
IF A CAT FOLLOWS YOU HOME
EITHER KEEP HIM IF YOU CAN
OR BRING HIM TO A NO-KILL SHELTER

Beautiful Sally…. I hate seeing people gooing at pets in pet shop because you know that when that cute little bundle starts to become a little hard to deal with and not so cute, it too will be on the street starving. My house like yours and Hilarys is overflowing with pets… Im a softie too..xx

  • Sally Omar replied

Jodie, Thank you so much…I don’t understand people…a man in a
pet shop called me one day said this woman had died…her cat was
17 and her children were going to put it down…would I take it…of
course I did and she lived another five years…it is so sad that some
people do not understand that animals have a psyche..Sally xxoo

Yep my house is like yours too Sally! My little stray black kitten who was thrown out of a car window is a big boy now and always sitting on top of my big fluffy white cat! I’ve just got a brumby foal…they are shot in the mountains…so I rescued this one….he’s adorable!!! My two big horses have their noses temporarily out of joint. You can almost hear them saying “I say…that little fellow’s got no manners and his coat is all shaggy!”

  • Sally Omar replied

Estelle, Thank you so much…I can’t believe how cruel some people
are … it is so very sad….the horses must be very funny…I have two
that are right now being boarded…the horse I live in now doesn’t have the room for horses..although I have a barn…but they are
five minutes away from us…Sally xxoo

Amen, sista!!! I’m giving ‘my boy’ to a single mother with a 10-yr-old daughter before I transfer duty stations. I refuse to bring him to a shelter :( I wub my kitty…

  • Sally Omar replied

Tink, Thank you so much…that is such a smart way of handling the
situation…your boy will be so happy especially with a 10-year who
will love him like crazy….Sally xxxoo

Nice one Sally…..The local Vet. puts pictures of “lost” cats in the local paper to see if he can find their owners, or a new home.

  • Sally Omar replied

Greg, That is wonderful…there are very few vets where I live who will
get involved with animals that are homeless…they are some “no-kill”
shelters…but I know when they become overcrowded sometimes
animals are put down…Thank you so much…Sally xxoo

Their loss is your gain dearest Sally! I so love this – reminds me of finding my kitties – especially my ‘baby’ – nearly 3 now! She was dumped in our garden hedge while we were out for the day – she is such a love and makes me smile at least once a day. How can people be so cruel – I will never understand it!!! xxx
