I traveled the Flowered Powered Highway
All the young years of my life
Walking down all the roads
There was much fun..but also strife

We were the flower children
In a psychedelic world
Happy with our lives
And changes that unfurled

It was the time of Woodstock
Free love and drugs
Not sure where we were going
Our world filled with shag rugs

Hari Krishna’s stood on the street
Ringing their bells
Asking for donations
So their lives would go well

There were communes
Where all lived in total harmony
Community was the answer
They wanted to be free

We loved Woodstock
Hendrix blew our minds
Love and inspiration
Were never far behind

We lived a life
Of Purple Haze
A life of bright colors
In which to gaze

We had causes
In which we truly believed
And for those in Viet Nam
In our hearts we grieved

Bell bottom pants were the rage
Tie-dyed shirts
Nehru suit
And long flowing skirts

We were the writers
The artists and poets
And today we think back
To a time of no regrets
