THE LITTLE BRIDGE

Walking by The Little Bridge
It was shocking to see
A little elf with a walking stick
Walking next to me
We started to chat
The way friends do
And he was so pleased
For he had friends so few
He had a hat on his head
And he wore shoes
They were red
And he had a cheery smile
And talked of his home under the bridge
We walked for about a mile
It may seem unbelievable
That he walked with me
But he never met anyone
Who was really so friendly
People who saw him didn’t speak
Thinking he was a figment of their imagination
Not realizing that he was an elf
And was not their own creation
We talked about The Little Bridge
He said his great-great grandfather built
At first he said it was quite hard
And it started to tilt
But they fixed that so no one would fall
They were very tiny
But very smart after all
His family has resided there for many a year
I walked away smiling
He was such a dear
