SLIPPING & SLIDING

Slipping away sadly through sight and sound
Forgetting the meaning of every verb and noun
Finding it more difficult each and every day
To remember what to say

Slipping and sliding in and out of reality
Into a different personality
Are you the young girl with golden hair
Or the old lady riding the mare

Slipping and sliding through time and space
Are you truly yourself or just wearing a face
Are you living in days gone by
Are you happy or do you cry

Slipping and sliding into despair
There is no one in the world to truly care
Forgetting a husband or a son
You are alone the only one

Slipping and sliding from light to dark
Shall you stay home or take a walk in the park
Who shall you meet on the path
Will your memory fail or will it last

Slipping and sliding in and out of reality
Are you the only one who can see
Your screaming for help but no one hears
Maybe you have faded out and disappeared

Slipping and sliding into a world of your own
Can you really trust being alone
Hoping someone will come to your aid
Or will you be left alone afraid

wow what timing to have found this at this time, when I myself feel like I am…slipping and sliding forgetting myself. Alone and afraid at the moment. But it will change. Beautiful words dear one.

Profound poetry Sally. Falling into the abyss is like sliding down into a dark place, helpless to stop the descent. Look closely at the image and on the top upper right there is a photo of a woman in b&w screaming in terror. You have a gift for capturing very profound emotional states. I agree with Leena when she says you describe the terror of often hopelessness of mental illness when people lose their grasp or grip and fall into a very dark place.

  • Sally Omar replied
