Native Symbols--Mother of Animals by

‘Mother of Animals’ is a Hopi design found on pottery in Arizona. It depicts Hahaiwugti, the ancient Tewan Earth Goddess.

I am making a sincere effort to present these designs as they originally appeared, with a wee bit of stylizing on my part. This series of tees is intended to honor the ancient ones and the art they left behind for us.

Maybe it’s because symbols representing women – especially mothers, are round (womb-like eg cauldrons etc)?

  • you know, i think you’re right…i always seem to like circles better anyway…..perhaps i will redo this one tomorrow….do you think the others would look better with something around them as well?
