Magic Lake

This is Caddo Lake, the largest fresh water lake in the south, covering about 26,800 acres of Texas & Louisiana. It is truly a unique, magical experience to visit this lake. A friend and I camped there in 86, and I will never forget it. The huge cypress trees standing in the lake are said to be 250-400 years old. They are laced with beautiful Spanish Moss, which gives the area a very mystical feeling. We canoed all over the lake and it was just amazing…..like no other place I have ever experienced….

This photo is really old and not that great, but you can see some of the moss if you look really closely…..I was inspired to post this after seeing Lina’s photos of the Spanish Moss this morning….thanks, Lina….good memories here… :-)

    caddo lake is alot like the swanee river in florida. i love the cypress trees and the moss..lot of good memories too…jan it looks like a great place to canoe….and adventure in life..

    Wow, such exceptional beauty. Old or new nature is always a marvel. It reminds me of my trip to New Orleans in the early 90’s, we would take boat trips on the bayou, i fell in love with Spanish Moss, & the Alligators, we fed them marshmallows
