Unless I Try

Unless I Try belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical and WMG

I must steal
a moment to think.
Standing on the edge
of a cliff
my toes are just beyond
the ledge.
A strong wind can test
my ability
to defy
the law of gravity.

Is this where
I really
want to
be?
I’m at the mercy
of forces
beyond
my control.

One slip,
and
my state of being
can change.
Reality
rearranged.

In this moment,
I am to decide
if I’m along for the ride.
Or, if I will run
and hide.

I stand to face the wind.
My dreams and fears
all appear
so clearly
to my
mind’s eye.

Will I have the will to fly?
I’ll never know
Unless I try.

An evocative piece of writing Dwayne, and so true, if one doesn’t try, today becomes yet another tomorrow’s regret.

I was in a strange state of mind. I wanted to create something that said something about how one reacts when the “chips are down.”
