It’s not freestyle.
Thoughts have to spring
from the top of my head.
Sometimes they spin so fast,
I almost wind up dead.
Focus has shifted;
consciousness has lifted.
It’s on a higher level.
One beyond the body, mind…
let’s hear it…
for the spirit.
I’m not listening for the cheers
or jeers.
C’mon get wise
beyond your years
Cast off your fears.
Surrender to the flow;
feel the rhythm.
Hear the drummer get
wicked.
The flow has slowed.
Although, it’s not time for me to go.
I just don’t know
how to say “No”
when I’m in a mood like this.
Struck by lightning
and moved
by thunder.
I refuse to be plowed under.
I will not be glossed over.
Move over Rover!
Jimi once took over.
Now, it’s my turn.
I’m on my stage.
Out of my larval stage.
Don’t want to turn the page.
Until I’m good and ready.
The power charge is steady.
I’m ready to start a fire.
I’ve stepped on the tripwire.
A split second until this whole
idea explodes.
Take cover!
Run to find your mother
and it won’t help.
There’s no escape,
from this rising tide.
Just try to glide,
on the thoughts that come
to mind.
I think you’ll
find some moments
that you tried to save
have been spent.
When you try to pay your rent
with the missing minutes, you’ll be
unable to spin
the forces in your favor.
Even a prayer to your savior
may not prove enough…
Life is tough!
Don’t forget you have a brain
to help you think in times of trouble.
Don’t forget you have a voice.
Sing out!
