Slip, Slide and... Wahey!

Slip, Slide and... Wahey!

I went out to the desert yesterday with some friends…

...just trying something new.

This was taken half way up one of the large sand dunes that we stupidly decided to climb… well, not even half way. Anyway, at this point, little James decided it would be more fun to slide all the way down again!

Another great example of the ENTWTBTTT Paul. The image itself is a portrayal of fun and adventure and although I haven’t seen anything like this (the nearest being Margate beach when someone’s built a large sandcastle) I can imagine the fun that must be. I echo my comments from humbled but the clincher on this one is the light on James’ right hand, cap and left knee. Truly exceptionally executed.

  • Paul Tupman replied

Thanks again Stuart… I was a little worried that people wouldn’t like this as there is no detail in the face, but it was exactly those little highlights that did it for me too! Glad you noticed his hand… :-)

What fantastic fun, reminds me of many a happy time climbing the sand dunes at the beach and sliding all the way down again!! Beautiful light and gorgeous sand patterns. :))

  • Paul Tupman replied

Thanks Heather… those kind of evocative memories was what I was hoping from this. By having no detail in the childs face you can almost imagine it is you sliding down the sand!

apart from this being a great story telling piece, the effective use of the two figures gives this image a great sense of perspective and depth. The sand line leads the eye from one figure to the other beautifully. A brilliant image!

  • Paul Tupman replied

Thank you so much Alf… I love for my images to tell a story, especially if people can read their own thoughts into it. Really appreciate your comment… :-)
