Just Let It All Wash Over You
Long Beach, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Canada
March, 2008
Taken at Long Beach, just outside of Tofino on Vancouver Island as the sun set on a wet and windy day in March.
With all of the dark clouds looming it was wonderful to see how what little light there was washing over the wet sand creating a magical effect.

This makes me glad to be awake at nearly 1am. Absolutely sensational work Paul. The shine on the sand is, as you said, magical.
Paul Tupman replied
Thanks so much Rhana.. glad that you were up late in the day to see it too! :-)

I love how the focal point is the light in the distant center, and then it gets darker as it moves toward the edges.. this is a scene I imagined in a book I am reading right now.. perhaps it is the dramatic in me.. maybe that is why I love the black and white( specifically yours) so much.. there is elegant drama in your frames.. not the obnoxious kind..but subtle.. the artistic kind… if that made any sense.
Paul Tupman replied
Thanks so much Lexie.. and yes it all made sense to me! Wow, what another fantastic compliment. I’m so glad that my black and white work is evoking such emotions in you.. it certainly makes it all the more worth while! Thanks again.

There’s the reason why Lady Rhana doesn’t do sunrises – too busy burning the midnight + oil.
Beautiful Paul, just sheer beautiful! The Parkinesque border encasing the gorgeous glow across the water and reflecting that pummeling cloudline reacjing out to the back of beyond.
The miniture reflections of those trees on the skyline are divine
Paul Tupman
Hi Stuart… thanks so much for that. Wow, Parkinesque.. Deb really has gained true recognition and its a compliment to be likened to her brilliant black and white work. I’m glad that you picked up on the detail in the background, but I bet you didn’t notice Claire in there too! Thanks again.. :-)
Naomi Frost
This IS magical, Paul. I adore your black and white work, this is no exception.
Paul Tupman replied
Thank you so much Naomi… you can’t beat a comment like that! :-)

The lines from the foreground and the sky enhance this deep perspective you’ve achieved. An amazing, memorable landscape.

This makes me want to abuse my Visa, (buy a print) and think little of
getting slammed by an overdraft later. :-/ (I really am resisting the urge..)
