An Old Haiku, About Trees Too,

Great tower of life
Rising top death and despair
Lonely master tree

Who can see inside?
Great fortress of silence
Free unleashed spirit

Stars crown on your head
The full moon is your jester
Dancing on your roof

A great wanderer
Despite your restraining roots
Your soul’s ever free

When the fires coming
Your soul is still undaunted
Your life still goes on

A bard at heart ache
You missed your calling dear tree
Yet bards still bow down

An Old Haiku, About Trees Too, by

I wrote this in 1983 an assignment for Freshman year creative writing at Cal State. My Gran insists I share it, though its obviously from early in my creative growth as an artist.
