I’d seen rare photos of Upper McCord Creek Falls taken from its base and have longed to explore the canyon from this vantage point, but I couldn’t figure just how people got down there. Turns out, it just took braving the steep incline beyond the viewpoint from which this falls is usually captured. I’ve never been a huge fan of western sword fern, but they proved trustworthy handholds on the steep, crumbly descent down. The views were well worth the effort and hollowed stomach to say the least, and the surprise heart-shaped spectral element in the lower left corner was a magical little discovery back home on the computer screen.

Prayers for an end to all the senseless violence and for the healing and safe-keeping of all those affected by the Aurora, Colorado, massacre.

WOW … I was drawn to the title alone. Seems we are getting very poetic. I like it. I’m guessing the waterfall is the spoken prayer, the heart shaped fern mound is the whispered dream, and the line of light circles caught by the lens is the silent glimmer in between. Or …. I am completely wrong ha ha.

  • Fully open to interpretation, Adam…yours is as good as any. ;) Thanks immensely, my friend.

Sheer poetry in verse and vision. Love the heart shaped light and rock, truly make this special. It is a spectacular view and I’m all for scrambling through the wild but from your description, I’m more than happy to enjoy it vicariously here. Brilliant moment and image Tula!

  • Thank you so much, Sylvia…yes, I advised my mom to stay back on this one…her short legs would’ve gotten her in trouble again, lol. Thanks for the wonderful comment!
