The human psyche never ceases to amaze me. As I was setting up my camera to shoot Shaft, this gentleman gave me a quick glance as he walked past and then promptly scrambled down the path to the falls directly in front of me. No hi how are you doing or what are you up to or will I get in your shot (he did, obviously). He made his way to the base of the falls, shot a quick look skyward with hands on hips, then tended to his cell phone the remainder of his time there.

I suppose I shouldn’t be too hard on the guy—after all, who could possibly be bothered with the trivialities of nature when the grandeur of our electronic devices demand our ministration?

ROFL, tourists.( shakes head)….. in this case it actually helps to have him in the shot, shows scale. Nice!

  • True that…I just wondered why he couldn’t have been a bit more courteous. I’d have been happy to have sent him a print if he was a considerately willing participant, lol…

  • Thank you very much, LisaBeth! Even though he was a bit inconsiderate, I like the sense of scale he lent to the scene. :)

When this photo popped up, somehow I know it was yours! What a beautiful work and amazing capture Tula!
I actually thought you planned to have this guy in the frame :). I like it!

  • Appreciate the tremendous compliment immensely, Yelena! Haha, I’d have paid the guy five bucks to get the guy in the image, but he ended up doing it ‘for free’, lol.

I’ve had a similar thing happen to me here, was taking beach shots, had set up ready to press go and guess what happened… Oh well he made a good silhouette (haha)…
I do like this shot though, it certainly puts the size of this place into perspective…

  • Thank you, Sharon. Indeed, his inconsiderateness was my gain! :)

Well, he does show the scale of the falls:) Awesome image!!

  • Thank you, Kim! Indeed, he does…just wished he’d been more mindful of others around him. Catching him texting was the icing on the irony cake. :)

And I can’t but help think beam me up Scotty.. sorry, I’m a trekkie :)

  • Don’t be sorry, it’s what I think of, too, but I wanted to give it a little extra meaning beyond the more patent first impression. Live long and prosper, my dear. ;)
