Real women vs barbie

Found this awhile ago while working on a paper for one of my classes and decided to share this little tidbit with you.
things you never thought of when you were playing with barbie

Real Women vs. Barbie

Real Women

*Average woman’s heigh is 5’4"*Their weight is approx. 140 lbs.*They wear a size 14 dress*Their bust is between 36" and 37" (B cup)*Their waist is between 30" and 34"*Their hips average between 40" and 42"*Their shoe size is estimated to be between 8.5 and 9.5

Barbie (as a human)

*Barbie’s height would be 7’2"*Her weight would be 101 lbs.*She would wear a size 4 dress*Her bust would be 39" (FF cup)*Her waist would be 19" (same as her head)*Her hips would be 33"*Her shoe size would be a 5

Barbie’s body would have room for only half of a liver and only a few inches of intestines, as opposed to the usual 26 feet. The result: chronic diarrhea and death from malabsorption & malnutrition.

Barbie’s neck is twice as long as the average human’s which would make it impossible to hold up her head.

Barbie’s waist is the same circumference as her head.

Barbie’s legs are 50% longer than her arms, whereas the average woman’s legs are only 20% longer than her arms.

To look like a barbie proportionally, a healthy woman would need to add 61 cm to her height, subtract 15 cm from her waist, add 13 cm to her chest, and 8 to her neck length.

If a woman had the same measurements as Barbie, she would not have enough body fat to menstruate (and obviously to have children).

There are 3 billion women on the planet who don’t look like Barbie; only 8 women come close.

Barbie would be unable to walk upright (she would need to walk on all 4’s): her feet are so proportionately small that her chest would pull her perpetually forward onto her toes.

I heard Barbie and Ken got divorced and that she is now with Australian Blaine. Apparently the company that supplied Ken and Barbie broke up, lol. But if a woman looks close to Barbie, some of the facts that the study has supplied are slightly exaggerated. For example, I have seeing skinny women have children. They just happen to have a fast metabolism. So there is different types of slim, the natural slim, with exercise, and a great healthy diet; the Supermodel Paris Hilton slim who hardly eats, and them there are the ones who are so obsessed with being slim they become bulimic & anorexic.. Very sad that this society pays so much attention to the outside of women. However, if you go to another culture, such as my country, they will need Barbie to be more like JLO body wise for example, in order for them to be considered attractive. I had an opposite problem growing up was always slim because of my metabolism for example, my sister was always considered the attractive one in the family. Also I heard in other places is the same, a woman has to have meats in the right places, both forms of “Machismo” and Objectification of women in Society.

Yes i did notice the slight irregularities in the study. I have always been tiny due to a very fast motabalism and this did not affect me physically. there are many different types of slim as you say and not all are unhealthy. I think barbie orginally began as a north american toy and there are many societies were the standards of how a woman should look are vastly different and probably healthier. I do agree with you my dear! it is very sad that societies pay far more attention to the outside of a womans body then the inside. though i do believe we are starting to make inroads into it. i just finished reading memoirs of a geisha and it really opened my eyes to other cultures and how women have been treated in the past. a very fascinating book

I like Botticell’s idea of a perfect figure LOL

  • lol a perfect figure is the figure god saw fit to give each indivdual woman. a womans heart and mind is her true beauty :) Sorry i don’t beleive in the social standards lol

I hate barbie! Always did. I took barbie outside in my backyard when I was a kid and I burned her nose off with a lighter, then her hands, then her feet and finally her hair. It was so much fun.
Did you know that slut, hee hee, turned 50 years old a while ago?

  • lol yeah i have to agree. i’ve never been a fan of barbie lol. yep i did lol figures she hasn’t aged a day lol grrrrrrr

I bet she did not age because of all the plastic surgeries even though she is 50, lol. My dad wouldn’t let me have any barbies, he though it was like idolatry of the body. So i will see other girls playing with it. But did not think much of it until I moved here, specially since her body type was just so slim.

  • lol oh probably lol. My parents never banned barbie but i wasn’t really interested.. i was more of the tom boy, climbing trees, playing in the mud, street hockey etc lol.
