I recently had the most wonderful opportunity to meet and spend time with the ” Run for one planet” team. Wow!! I am still blown away by their passion, commitment and dedication to their cause. Even at 8 pm in the evening and exhausted from running from peach land to Vernon ( huge distance.. still have to look up the milage) they very graciously and tirelessly meet us with smiles and bubbling personalities. Their love for what they are doing, and their dedication quickly comes across to any one who sees them. Their enthusiasm and bubbling personalities quickly becomes contagious and I found myself being pulled into their world and realm. It was easy to lose ones self for hours on end while talking with both Stephanie Tait, Matt Hill and the rest of the team. We were welcomed with open arms and warm hugs and the hours flew by. Here is a little of what they are doing and why. The “run for one planet” is an on going endevour focused on encouraging and people of all ages to pick up the pace and get fit and healthy as well as taking the initiative to take action and clean up our planet. The running team consists of Matt Hill and Stephanie Tait who in total will run 11,000 miles, beginning in Vancouver, across the country and back). Their goal is to raise 1 million dollars for their charity, which will then be used to fund other races for fitness and environmental action. They also hope to achieve the 1 million mark for actions to help the earth go greener.. After talking with the team… I discovered that green actions can occur in simple steps such as, using natural hair products, composting, using online billing programs, avoiding chemical cleaners etc.. The list goes on and on.
After spending time with the team last evening we all retired for the evening only to reunite this morning for an impromptu photoshoot! Despite the early hour everyone was once again extraordinarily happy and bubbly, eager to pose for photos, and chat before heading out for todays run. Matt was a dear and even shows us the mobile compost box. Matt found a little worm that did not make it through the trip but once he opened the box to show us we discovered many happily wriggling worms merrily going about their business in their mobile home :). I hope to do up a few peices and post them for sale, any proceeds from these sales will be directly donated to the charity. So lets all get a little greener and active and help support this amazing group of people who are truly selfless and passionate. My heart goes with them on their long trip. Please refer to http://www.runforoneplanet.com/default.aspx where you can follow their journey and see updates to their location and what is happening.
