Endless Love
I slip into your room and kneel beside you
I gently nudge the covers back slightly
I smile as I see your peaceful and angelic face
I watch as you sleep, untouched by the new day
You are lost in beautiful, playful dreams
Your breath touches my cheek as I lean forward
To place a gentle kiss on your nose
You flutter and moan
You roll over, slipping your hand under you cheek
As you settle into a deeper sleep
I reach forward and gently run the tips of my fingers over your forehead
Down your temple and across your cheek
I lean forward and kiss your forehead
I place another kiss on your left eyelid
Another on your right eye
Your breath quickens,
Your eyelids lightly flutter
You sigh, and mutter
“No mommy”
I smile, run my fingers over your cheek
And say “ yes honey, its time to wake”
You sigh and crawl out of your warm covers
I nimbly grab your favorite blanket and wrap it around you
I take your tiny hand and lead you to the couch
I sit and bring you in close
You lay your head on my chest
I wrap my arms around you
You snuggle in close
As I lay my check on top of your head
I reach up and rub your forehead
You sigh and close your eyes
Your breath slows
You lay quietly within my arms
We have but a moment to cherish this love
Soon our day will start
And tender snuggles will be forgotten
I will always cherish these moments
Even when you are grown
I will miss these moments
And always hold them dear
My love is undying
