Mr. Blue Jay's leading me on a merry little chase
hmm well the Blue Jay sega still continues. I set out whole peanuts yesterday and within a few hours he proceeded to give me supreme heck for sitting on my deck in the evening. He wanted the peanuts but wouldn’t come down while i was there. Then this morning he stayed away until i left my post long enough to get ready for the day. While i was preoccupied he swooped in and stole two peanuts.
I may set up the tripod and use the remote to get the shot lol. The sega continues…. will post when i get the shot.. I hope

I’ve been trying for weeks to get close ups of blue jays..they’re slippery…and sneaky…and don’t want to be bothered..lol…but like you…I’m going to have to use the remote…unless I can figure out a way to sneak up on one…

ive grown a beard tuff stuff …. waiting … yawn … you would be better using an air rifle to shoot him down from the tree then get a taxidermist to stuff him in the pose you think might look best for the shot … would take a little less time … then you could get some housework done …

Probably you are talking about a Steller’s Jay, the provincial bird of BC. Blue Jay’s are a smaller eastern species. Jay’s are fun birds, and hugely opportunistic. I like your idea of the remote. Good luck. Let us know if any of the disaguises work, LOL.

lol yep i think he’s a stellar but i wasn’t able to see his head in the last shot. no luck so far lol.. i’ll let you know if the costumes work lol. need to find the plate for my tripod… it some how grew legs when i moved and i’ll be darned if anyone carries a replacement. saw a smaller tripod the other day that might work. this guys a tricky fellow :-}}

A blue jay used to land on my balcony in Calgry. As long as i stayed in the living room hed stay on the balcony. GOOD LUCK:)
