No room for heartaches, though, down by the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. Picture taken from that long-standing Fremantle institution, Cicerello’s, home of the best seafood. Cicerello’s has come a long way since I first went there in 1971, when the fish and chips were served by two ladies standing behind a narrow counter in what was not much more than a shed.

The bird on the lamppost looked lonely that day, but usually has lots of friends – hence the notices around the place saying ‘please do not feed the seagulls – they will SoY’.

Camera: Canon Powershot SX30 IS with 35X zoom lens, focal length 4.3 – 150.5mm (24mm – 180mm 35mm film equivalent).

Fantastic capture Ian!! Great composition, wonderful image! :D Caitlin

  • Thanks so much, Caitlin. I’m sure you know how it is – one minute you’re just sitting there – and you look up and just have to get your camera in your hand. If we’d sat at the next table, I probably wouldn’t have seen this.

I know exactly what you mean Ian :D You just never know when a photo opportunity will come along and it’s such a great feeling to know you have captured something unique, even when it’s an arranged portrait photo shoot or just a wander around to see what can be discovered :D
