Cumbria High Country (1) by

Roadside between Alston and Hartside Height mid-afternoon in April. The Height was in cloud, but here was clear, windy and cold. Looks as though these trees are used to the wind.

Monochrome emphasises the cold and bleakness of this part of the world.

    Oh, but it is beautiful!

  • Beautiful but bleak

Again a superb capture…you can feel the bleakness

  • It was definitely bleak and cold – something warming at the end of the journey (not far away, just the other side of Alston) was definitely needed.
