I’m semi-retired but busier than ever, having spent most of my career working in areas that the mainstream finds difficult to deal with.
Recently regenerated interest in photography sparked by meeting a poet who put some of her poems to my pictures. These are now starting to appear on Near and Far. We hope you’ll take a look. The pictures are available separately, but only at the Near and Far site.

I guess my philosophy is summed up in this quote from Leszek Kolakowski (Winner of Kluge Prize, 2003 – Nobel equivalent for humanities and social sciences): “It may well be that the impossible at any given time can become possible only by being stated at a time when it is impossible.”
About the ‘handle’:
Thomas the Rhymer was a medieval Scot from the border country (between England and Scotland), which is where my family originally comes from.
Thomas the Rhymer was shown three roads by the Elf Queen.
One is beset with thorns and leads to heaven.
One is fair and lovely and goes to hell.
One is green and leads to the faerie lands.
All three roads seem to me to be worth exploring. I suspect that, in the words of Don McLean, “all roads lead to where I stand”! The interest is travelling not in arriving.
