I did not take this picture. It was taken by a Master Sergeant serving with my husband in Afghanistan. It was taken shortly after a mission in which they encountered direct and accurate fire. I do not want credit for this photo, I simply want to remind you all that there are men and women out there willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

no editing has been done to this photo. I uploaded it the way he sent it to me.

Brings tears to my eyes. One of so many… too many, lost. May s/he rest in peace, and may their family find comfort and peace knowing s/he is in the loving embrace of God’s arms. May those still over there be surrounded with protection, and may they all come home safe and sound to the loving embrace of their loved ones arms.

  • thank you sso much for your touching comment, Leyla. My husband will be home in a few short days from Afghanistan after an 8 month deployment. It’s been a struggle, and I’ve had a lot of friends lose loved ones in this “war”. It never gets easier. Thank you again.

I can not even imagine what you must have been going through over the past 8 months. I will keep your husband and you in my thoughts and prayers until he is back home and safe in your arms. And my continual prayer is that this “war” will be over and done with very soon and that all those still over there will be home and safe soon. My friends son was just deployed over there just over a month ago also. Will your husband be home for good now?

  • no, he’s in for life (well, the next 20 years or so). This is what he loves. I can expect many more of these over the years. But I wouldn’t have it any other way, honestly. Every homecoming reminds me of why I married him. I love him and appreciate him so much more.

You are a wonderful and brave woman, and your husband is a true hero. I will keep you and your husband always in my prayers, and that he may be kept safe at all times during deployment into war zones. My heart aches, but at the same time I am grateful to him (and you) and only send the most positive of energies your way. I hope you get some wonderful shots of his homecoming, because those blessings touch the heart and soul, and a small sigh of relief flows for you all at that time. XOs
