This shot of two Queen Butterflies was taken at the butterfly house at Hershey Gardens in Hershey Pennsylvania.

The Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) seemed to be the Queens’ favorite.

This is beautiful excellent detail and color !!

  • Thank you Curtiss! I was shooting wide open, I was lucky enough to get a nice plane of focus on the butterflies and the coneflower. You can actually see the pollen in the coneflower. Thanks again!

superb capture, love the dof here…..

  • Thank you Vicki! Every once in a while I get a shot where I have shallow DoF and it works out. Just plain luck on this one.

Wonderful color and detail Tim! Well done!

  • Thanks Mike! Always struggle to get DoF on these types of shots…so I thought I’d throw it all to the wind and shoot wide open. Amazingly enough I got most of what I wanted in the plane of focus.

    Magnificent Macro capture.

  • Thank you Don! Seems like my favorite photography is macro and landscape. Don’t know why it is, but I seem to be drawn to either near or far!

Great perspective on that left hand butterfly, beautiful image. I’m a Pa. native, myself and used to drive thru Hershey to get home in Annville! Dee

  • Thanks Dee, I’m originally from near Reading but have lived in the area for about 18 years. I need to get to the butterfly house at Hershey Gardens more than I do. Sometimes I seem to neglect the things that are near to me…thinking I have to travel to find beauty.

Tim, this is a magnificent image. Beautiful composition and colors. Brenda

  • Much appreciated Brenda! I was so pleased when I saw this on my computer. I always have trouble with butterflies..they never seem to cooperate! (Kind of like my kids….) :-)
