A Deeper Shade of Blue

A Deeper Shade of BlueOnce I longed to travelto see the worldand ride a two humped camelalong the tracks of wayfarersto see the pyramids of Gizaor the lonely statues of Stonehenge. To see where Isaac and Ishmaelhad forked the lonely roads apartto see a deeper shade of bluewhere the white light of gracedid not intrudeand turn such purer shades to green. For I was still amusedby the darkest of jokesdeath rode on his distant steedand no woman I lovedwore her tired broach alongsidethe bruises on her skin.To see was what I was aboutthe deeper shades of bluealong the Ravens backI longed to rideand death was only near enoughto make out the friendliness of his smile.I sawlike the elements of a Dylan songone by one parade the lower elements erasethe virtuesand that behind a deeper shade of bluethere comes a costfor every train for beauty boundthere comes a stopwhere ugliness and human naturefill the empty void in linefor nature abhors a weaker linkI saw his teeth up close. So give the light of graceupon the deepest green of growththe Raven flies in circuitand all is where it should be.I have traveled longbut nearly as long as thosefor whom a deeper shade of bluemeans darkness nowpennies for the eyes and tongueand no longer sun to feelupon the face.

I’m coming back to these two – I’m quite under the weather today and not thinking very creatively. But I will be back – both are exceptional.

  • Thanks Lianne get out from under the weather first :), that’s what’s important.

Awesome writing, Bill. You take us where we do not expect and challenge our thinking. Have you thought of writing songs and selling them to one of the many famous recording artists? Once your name gets out there….. :~)

  • Thanks marjorie, I don’t know about writing songs, don’t know anyone :) You’re about an hour south of me by the way
