CIRCUS OF WORDS

Three Fates spew caustic sputum
from the mouth of denial,;
spinning tangled threads of life
in the subliminal isthmus of conscience,
woven in the wicked web of words
gestating in the acquiescence of innocence,

Delilah sells trust
from the gateway of antiquity
as the apothecary mixes lies
with a bitter pill of injustice.
Compounding a placebo
for the circus of the senate.

Breaching the bowels of the labyrinth,
before the schism of Hades,
the barking carnies
lobby in the sideshow
for the house of smoke and mirrors.

The divided sides’ paradigm……

A theorem of two faith’s ambiguity
results in a cataclysmic debacle
as the orators pound their chests
and posture for the spoils.
Eroding the chasm of dogma.

While the uncovered languish
under dirty linen in forgotten beds,
thrown from aseptic hallways
by the sanatorium of neglect.

The immoral hide the stain of Cain
behind a mask of manipulation,
and spin a rope of reprehensive promises
imbued with lies.

Like the metamorphosis of thunder
their wasted breath is a malodorous breeze.

Oh I see Congress written all over this one!!! What a portrait you paint, Tony – the old Roman “bread and circuses” Wonderfully astute, cleverly written – a powerful indictment indeed!

  • Thank you Lianne, yes I am a sucker for all things Latin….Roman that is. As I said earlier, very Poe-ish…Dark and distraught……..Hopefully a butterfly will catch my imagination and I will return for a bright and hopeful write

Wow Tony, this was deep, I had to read it a few times to be honest… all I can say is I get it and AMEN! This is a really incredible write. xx

  • Thank you Patty Jo….I guarantee no one will get all the symbols, metaphors, and references the first time they read it, if they ever get them all. Every word, phrase, and line is in it for a reason. Delightful to have you stop by my friend

When words are taken to turn the tide of the world against itself…..hypocrisy resides on the thrown on truth and lies fester the kingdom ….and fall it will as it did when Rome fell soured by inbuilt decay…
This indeed was a feast to read TR….it got me out of my sleepy pocket and rocketed be back to the ‘Ides Of March’ ….Brilliant writing in my humble opinon…XX
