I spotted this group among the many revellers inside the stone circle at Stonehenge at sunrise on midsummer’s day, 2010. Among the shots I took I caught this wonderful shared glance, spotlighted by the sunrise.
Canon EOS 350D with an 80 – 200mm zoom.
family solstice stonehenge sunrise
what a great photo!! I didn’t think people were allowed inside the stone circle now? I remember climbing around those stones when it was wild and free – before it was sealed off. Some scientists have been doing some sound effect experiments there recently.
English Heritage open up the stones every midsummer’s eve (night of the 20th/21st June) and there is a great hippie party there. We’ve been a few times – not for the whole night, but to get there for the sunrise (about 4.45) on Midsummer’s day. A moving event, with great atmosphere, and well worth the effort when the forecast is good!
this is beautiful
Thanks, I was so lucky to catch it – there were people squeezing past all the time and many pictures spoilt by blurry heads in the bottom half!
Wow what a wonderful capture…….so much being spoken with no words needed here.Love it. Barb
