It was at least twenty miles from home!

It was at least twenty miles from home!

We live within the
simplicity of nature,
very few burdens,
to gaze upon,
then for reasons beyond thought,
we crush the simplicity,
with a mountain
of words
watching………………….
as the…………………………………the river flows,
the flower blooms,
life abounds,
death stands on the corner,
…………..………………..waiting patiently,
for the next oppurtunity,
the time is near
and dear to my heart,
even without…………………………….the weight of,
words,
I see the past embrace the future,
as you toy with my thoughts………………………………………………………………….
………………………………………..
the rain
brings sadness
into this world
in the midst
of our northern
winter,
I gaze upon the naked
tree outside
my window
so simple
in its world,
seeking nothing,
until the weight of words,
burdens,
it down………………………………………………..
……………………………………………….
I try
to be
a great thinker,
I think
I’m trying to hard……………………..
……………………………………………..
we are born
great thinkers,
until the system
reaches inside our
brain,
manipulating,
taking your thoughts away,
soon you will
die……………………………………………….
…………………………………………………….
what of this world
and the degradation of society,
the tree stands alone
in the empty field
until the onslaught
of meaningless innuendoes
cuts its blood line
to mother earth,
then like everything else,
it dies!…………………………………………………..
………………………………………………….
Stained glass window
In a house of pain
An empty church
Abandoned by a babbling brook
As I sat on the side of the road
Devoid of sin
Devoid of love
Devoid of peace, war,
And beauty,
I searched for a reason?
Finding nothing,
But its ok,
For god is safe at
Home!……………………………………………….
………………………………………………….

He sits in a house,
Built by the blood, sweat and tears,
Soaked into the dirt,
From his fathers brow,
Smiling,
As tears of happiness,
Eats his soul,
Filling his heart with shame.
…………………………………
…………………………………
He carries,
A book of lies,
Dying a little each day,
Hiding the truth,
Within his soul,
Reciting his death warrant,
At the bottom of a bottle,
Hoping the truth,
Will never escape.
……………………………………..
………………………………………….
The day will come
soon,
of that i am sure,
for my muse told me so,
the door will close,
your thoughts will vacate,
mine to,
you will be blind no more,
throwing into the four winds,
paper and ink,
walking into eternity,
a free man,
your words left behind,
your soul
undefined …..
………………………….
empty soul,
all alone,
on a road of desperation,
heading to,
an heartless home,
listening to the,
babbling brook,
beyond the grave,
he saw redemption,
floating on the wayward wind,
dropping to his knees,
abandoning his sins,
he bowed his head
and cried
as death sat by his side
touching him gently,
life lifted his thoughts
opening his mind…………………….

Powerful and way deep friend. What a ride your just words are. I think of all those words society throws out as meaningless and not from my soul at all. I like to think that we are all unique and our minds are not for rent. I often just let words pass over me like a bath. I know that feeling is far more accurate than thinking:) xx

  • thank you Donna…I often just let words pass over me like a bath….so true…

fantastic write Rocky, it made me think of something I heard once about labeling. Once we have a word for something we think we know it, when we only know about it. Wonderfully reflective, wonderfully deep, well done.

  • thank you Tony…

They say “There are no atheists in foxholes” but once you’ve been in your own “foxhole” where your own life is in danger you need to remember this time. We need words in order to think and to remember and to accept salvation. Words are the tools of the brain, and you use yours very well here. Congratulations on this poem being selected as Writing of the year 2012!

  • thank you …much appreciated…
