don't let the dog bite!

Here you go,
once again,
under clear blue skies,
spilling lies,
destroying life’s,
the truth is part of you,
embedded in your core,
death,
walking on hearts ,
stomping on life’s,
we have all been there,
touched by you,
touched by your fear,
admiring your crinkled,
auburn hair,
cascading from the sky,
as the pain becomes pain no more,
we accept your lies,
fear subsides,
love transcends,
reaching out,
searching for the gentle touch,
for god is near,
friends so dear,
your purple pleated skirt,
trimmed with deceiving hearts,
lined with hurt,
acceptance is bliss,
your black pumps,
softly,
oh so gently,
caressing the earth,
causing earthquakes,
within ones head,
uprooting the dead,
memories knocking on my back door,
i let them in,
as i watch you strolling by,
once again,
you have entered my life,
with your Gucci bag,
full of lost dreams,
as we hang on to hope,
your Versace shades,
hiding daggers of pain,
shifting eyes,
pointing fingers,
no one to blame,
we accept you,
the kettle is on,
the dogs don’t bite,
the cat is fine,
no sympathy,
no shame,
reality accepted,
life is grand,
living to the fullest,
painting dreams,
within the mind,
everything is ok,
everything is fine,
every hour,every minute,every second,
so precious,
in ones life…………………..

how do you write about chemo therapy….
…………………………………………………………
as i sit on skid row,
sipping a coffee,
i shut out the world,
for life seems grand,
when you see ppl smile,
when all they own,
is the clothes on their backs,
empty,
your mind,
your soul,
your heart,
and let the ink flow……………….

Rocky, I’ve never had to go through cancer but I’ve lost many family and friends to it. Through their eyes it was traumatic and difficult. Speaking for myself: “You never really know unless you’ve lived it yourself.” rings true in many ways. I hope I never have to personally go through it. With that being said, your write is deeply heartfelt and powerful, along with being a psychological journey. Excellent piece.

SUCH awesomeness in this powerfull write Rocky !! What makes it truly exceptional, is that you dont only include cancer-affected people here, but also gives potent social commentary about what has become of this world and humankind … The heartfelt way you describe “her”, the “main character” of your write is SO tender, so very understanding – it lumped my throat . (Most interesting title Rocky-man!) Yet another BRILLIANT piece.

  • thank you marella..i can only imagine what aperson goes through fighting this disease…appreciate your insightful comment….

cancer wiped out my immediate family (exception my younger brother who OD 2yrs after our mothers passing)
your expression for a friend adds essences for you to express the poison of chemo but the life line to recovery. I’ve experienced treatments with my family they aren’t easy.
your writing deserves feature even more so since as it shows your heart song love of a friend through your ink pen.
    peace love and happiness always

  • sorry for your loss..i too lost a sister and two good friends to cancer….i wrote a story called …angels in the sky… as a tribute to them…
