The Faber Castell Castle is located in Stein, Germany, right next to Nuremberg. Right by it, is the factory, where it all started 250 yrs ago, with pencils.
Graf Faber Castell, the present owner, is of royalty. The family history is quite interesting.
The portion of the castle here, was built (finished) in 1905, but in a style to make it look older (a prestige thing!). Because of this, there are a lot of art deco elements to be seen inside. Sadly, it was not allowed to take photos. The doors were only opened for tours because of the 250 yrs celebration, and only on Sundays for 2 months. Then the interrior becomes a secret again.
This castle, was the home of the reporters from all over the world during the Nuremberg trials – I believe two were Ernest Hemmingway and Churchill!
The castle was also the stage for a few movies, one of them was “Fathers and Sons” (I believe).
