Aoraki Mount Cook & Southern Alps - NZ by

After a stunning Helicopter ride through the Southern Alps – we landed atop the Liebig Dome for a view of the panorama.

This is a 3 shot pano ( I do have a 7 shot that extends right up the Murchison Glacier, but too wide for RB)

Mt Cook, highest mountain in New Zealand at 3754m (12,316ft) to the left of centre. This looks to the bottom of the Murchison Glacier where it merges with the Tasman Glacier.

Needless to say it was a stunning sight on a beautiful day.

Absolutely incredible! What an experience that must have been! Beautiful shot Dean :)

  • Thanks Shelly – just processed this, this morning… I’m happy with it. I’ve managed to get the sky really even across in a pano which is great. Due to different angles of the sun on the frame as you take the shots it can prove quite difficult when you stitch them together. So this is quite satisfying

Lovely – and so cold looking. A heli ride is on my list for next time.

  • Yes, blowing 40 knots and about -10c… a bit chilly if I do say so myself :o) – but worth every second up there
