Thank you so much Simone. This is a difficult shot for me to look at, it took me a while to decide whether to upload it or not. The little girl is my daughter, and I find that putting her in such a frightening scene feels wrong. She loves the shot though, ironically!

Thanks – its at the Trial Bay Gaol in South West Rocks – about 5 hours north of Sydney. Great location, I did a wedding there recently – not quite so spookily processed, but the walls gave me the most amazing backdrops that compliment skin tones perfectly :-)

Thanks Deon – I find it a little creepy myself, but thats only because its my daughter in the image….would it be wrong to say I’d prefer it was someone else’s kid? lol

I have 3 little girls, and I do love using her in my images. No its not wrong to say that. Makes it easier to use your own kids though…...you can tell them what to do and you have a small chance that they might just listen :)

It’s well after midnight. Too late to go and search but when friends took me through there, their son, Michael. Then about 12, stood behind one of the doors/gates trying to look like a sad prisoner. Because I developed and printed these black and white photos, in those years, in all sorts of make-shift ‘dark-rooms’ the photo (not 100% perfect) looks rather ghostly (and sad).
