When my mother died at home in Ireland (on 2nd January 2011). My family put together some things which represented her life. We held the wake in her bedroom and these items were put in the room alongside her coffin. She was a dressmaker, so her sewing machine, measuring tape and threads were important, along with her jar of buttons, her well worn prayer book, her radio and her family, represented by the photo of her and my father who died 23 years earlier.
