Mt St Michel village church by

Le Mont Saint Michel is located in Normandy, France and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“About half-way to the top is Saint Peter Church, parish of the village, with a statue of Joan of Arc, beloved of the French, in front of the door. Of simple styling, it was built between 15th and 16th century. It contains beautiful statuary, as well as votive candles offered up by the many loyal pilgrims. There is also a splendid silver statue of Saint-Michael. Behind the church, the tiny cemetery and its narrow paths are completely charming.” voyage-webguides.com

Bermuda born so I occasionally get “rock fever” and have to travel – especially to France! Mostly use my Nikon D200, but also use a Sony Cybershot DSC T90 and a Lumix DMC-LX5 for quick shots.

This is quite lovely!………and the bold red door is a wonderful contrast to the building.

  • Thank you Leanna. I was looking through some shots taken in 2003 and saw this one, so I thought I’d enter in the “Red Door” challenge. Glad you like it.

Mont Saint Michel must be something else and just amazing. Very beautiful! :-))

  • It is an amazing place to visit – full of history, beautiful views and interesting shops along the way to the breathtaking abbey at the top of the climb.
