The narrow streets of Mont St Michel, France by

Shot in March 2003, this view was fairly quiet with only a few people. I understand in the summer months, these narrow cobbled streets are virtually impassable which is such a shame as they are filled with interesting shops and restaurants.

Mt. St. Michel is on the border between Normandy and Brittany in northern France, and was one of the first sites to obtain UNESCO World Heritage listing in 1979. More than three million visitors a year flock to this ancient pilgrimage site.

Bermuda born so I occasionally get “rock fever” and have to travel – especially to France! Mostly use my Nikon D200, but also use a Sony Cybershot DSC T90 and a Lumix DMC-LX5 for quick shots.

Interesting contrast between the modern Nestle sign and this gorgeous ancient place.

  • Yes – that was one of the drawbacks that stood out in this ancient pilgrimage site, but the modern pilgrims like their ice cream!
