This children’s bed-time story has always been one of my favorites, and even more fascinating is the history behind the story.

The original story is very dark, and without a happy ending. It entails horror far beyond what a child should understand or hear of, but it’s original intent was to frighten young children (mostly little girls) into staying at home during the late hours of the night, and warning them about the trickery of “wolves” for a man can be just as ravenous and blood thirsty as any monster. In fact, most monsters are made of man.

This painting means a lot to me as it is an illustration of a poor naive girl who was foolish and did not listen. Thus, she has dropped her basket and the fruits it bared…and now the wolf will have his way.

I know too many people who have become victims of such crimes as this, and I hope that any creature who would do such a thing…gets what he deserves.

May God have mercy on their souls.

The work is GREAT! Very effective, indeed. Your comments, too, also speaks volumes. That’s why I say all girls should go learn self-defence; not that it will ever make them wholly and totally invincible; but, maybe, it might just be able to help whenever they are being faced by a really creepy oddball…who just don’t understand the word: No! ;-)

  • Thank you so much Paul. I’m very glad that you think the message is well conveyed.
