I knew the moon was going to come up long before I would get to see it, as it does right before being full, behind the barn and on the other side of Farmer Shaw’s wood lot. So I walked up the hill to meet it, hootin as I went because deer cross over on this incline and I don’t want to come head on with any of them. lately i have been seeing mother’s with young ones, they are so cute how they prance about. I make noise and if they are there behind the forest line they hold back.
I never know exactly where the moon will be as she is so moody. Suddenly I saw her over Farmer Shaw’s house and my heart leap for joy at the sight of her. It seems the world is ending but still I am filled now with nature’s beauty and I am glad for it as long as it lasts! I want to soak up every moment with earth’s wildness while i can.
The crickets and treefrogs are happy now that there has been some rain and I see that the alfalfa in the field is blooming it’s shades of purple and the red clovers are having a re-bloom. How thankful I feel for this when half the U.S. is in a severe drought. Ours in Ohio has been moderate but finally we got two reviving rains. Hope was restored to the landscape.
