Very beautiful work Ken. All those subtle colours in the dress are quite astonishing and I love the way you have done the background. Some detail yet secondary to the subject and subdued. Nice light against dark and vice versa. I think she would be very honoured and most definitely would think you have done her justice.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

Dearest Lynda, comming from you, your comments are not only apreciated they mean a great deal as you know I consider your work to be Masterly.
If Emma is looking on I think she’d be happy! Thanks Lynda from me.

Hey Ken – you should join the Painted Ladies group (if you are not in it already) and put her in the ‘portrait of a special lady’ challenge (I don’t know if I’ve quite got the title of the challenge correct).

  • Ken Tregoning replied

Thanks Lynda, I have as you suggested but I dont stand a chance against your beautiful work, Hugs girl just the same OK!. good luck

It is absolutely stunning Ken. What a lovely lady she is. The colors, detal and background support the subject and the viewer is instantly drawn to her face, and I love the lighting on her face. I was blessed with my first great-grandchild recently and her name is Emma Marie.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

Absolutely fantastic “Congrats on Emma Marie” almost a double finish, I am so glad that you like it, Warmest regards KEN

Oh, it is finished Ken….just superb. It is really so lovely. I love the dresses of that era, and you painted it so beautifully along with her lovely face. Colors are just right.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

Congrats! Your image placed in the TOP 10 in the Quickie Best Lady Challenge

I want to say, first, this is beautiful. Her dress looks like white organza, which would have a sheen to it, and a translucent sheerness, and would have picked up some colors around her, in certain light.

Second, I have to say, that I laughed when I saw the name of the Challenge, above, “Quickie Best Lady…”; because I know Emma was anything but a “Quickie” to paint.

Cheers for the grand FINISH! Favoriting.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

Frannnie I am so sorry looks like I totally missed ansering your lovely and fantastic comment, Emma took me about a week all up for me that is quick I guess! thanks just the same, you ,lovey Lady .., Ken

You are blessed with a great talent. Lucky to have an old picture of a great, great, grandmother (a treasure) and then blessed with the talent to be able to restore her before the old portrait really starts to fade away.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

I thank God for the small mercies in my life and for the greatest gift anyone will ever recieve his Love, I am forever gratefull, as for my talent true another gift and a blessing to recognise it, Thanks Eric.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

And you too Happy Feet, I’m sorry I thought that you might have been Eric… So HAPPY FEET what ever your name is Thank you sincerely …. Ken

  • happyfeet5

I had to write back. You see it touched my heart when you wrote that first you thanked God for the small mercies in your life and for the greatest gift, which is love and you left for last your talent, which you consider another gift. This shows that you are a humble man and because of this it has been my pleasure to have met you.

  • Ken Tregoning replied

what can I say, I read once about a man who complained about his shoes they hurt him, then one day he met a man who had no feet, Happy feet, I dance on fire and walk on air, Thank you for your wonderful words. KEN

  • happyfeet5

    happyfeet5

Those are very wise words. Sometimes you complain and then you meet someone who is worse than you. So you have to count your blessings. I will have to take that to heart. happyfeet5

  • Ken Tregoning replied

The blessing is in the belief, the thanks is from my heart , thank you.

  • happyfeet5

    happyfeet5

Yes, you have to look for all of the blessings and then believe that they are blessings from above and then thank the Lord for them and for people who are there, even from far away to consider you a friend. May the Lord bless you even more. Ken

  • Ken Tregoning replied

A friend is someone who can tell you they hate you while you are both laughing, but only a best friend knows why you’re both happy about it. LMAO friend :-D
