On my recent workshop I had decided to work on skies. Half way up Woldgate, we followed the track up to the Boynton ‘folly’ which is an interesting subject by itself, but we were intending to paint looking back down into the valley towards Boynton. However looking southwards there was this marvellous vista of the bay towards Barmston and Ulrome. The farmer had already started harvesting his golden rye which made a warm contrast to the cool dramatic sky. Nothing more to be said….easels out! This 18″ × 14″ watercolour was painted with Windsor & Newton artists paints on Saunders Waterford 140lb NOT .
