This 12″ × 10″ watercolour was painted with Windsor & Newton Artists paints on Saunders Waterford 140lb NOT.
Originally intended to be part of my ‘Follow the Leader’ series based on the work of B.W. Leader RA, I noticed that what was originally intended to be a gravestone somehow transformed into this mysterious lady. Having just read a great book by Jonathan Gould about the life and times of the Beatles called “Can’t Buy Me Love”, I immediately thought of the lonely lady in the Beatles classic track!

As a painter of light, legend and landscape I am indebted to the wonderful medium of watercolour which gives me the versatility to incorporate many different styles in to my work.

such a fantastic painting in color and design, Glenn! beautiful filtered light. a very interesting story!!

  • Thanks Sally. Try and get hold of the book -it’s subtitle is the Beatles in Britain and the USA and is an absoloutely fascinating account of those fantastic years when the Beatles were the most famous people in the world – apologies to Muhammed Ali of course!

It would have been a fantastic work of art anyway, but the narrative really helped boost the interest level Glenn.

  • Thanks Jim. I had used masking fluid for a ‘gravestone’ but when the painting was done and I removed the mask – there she was!

As usual the light is terrific and the shadows only add to the composition. Very nice.

  • Thanks Lois.

You are a master of the sky and great composition Glenn. You are also pretty damn good at capturing the light! Love your work, (and I’m sure “all the lonely people” do too – and thank you for driving me crazy as that song will be inside my head for the rest of the day – LOL)!!!!

  • Thanks Linda – sorry about the song- but it’s not a bad one is it! Maybe I can do some more on this theme. Try and get hold of the book – it’s a fascinating read about a fascinating time.
