When I first started painting I was told that ‘blue’ paintings were the kiss of death – that no one ever bought them. Happily this has not been the case!
This painting was inspired by a walk in Cropton forest in North Yorkshire on the trail of the remains of a Roman camp.
Watercolour done on Saunders Waterford 140lb NOT with Windsor & Newton artists paintings.
Favourited by 25 people as at 14th January 2011

As a painter of light, legend and landscape I am indebted to the wonderful medium of watercolour which gives me the versatility to incorporate many different styles in to my work.

Oh no, that is not true about blue paintings! blue is very calming and draws people in – at least it does to me and I use it all the time. I actually have to keep myself from the blue sometimes!

  • I agree with you – I like blue!
