We’ve all had a go at Venice! This was part of a Venice exhibition I was involved in several years ago. I have never managed to get there but a friend let me use her photos as a base. I got the titles from an Italian friend of mine – everyone was impressed!

    Nice! Very atmospheric.

  • Thanks Pad – I just wanted to do something different to the others in the exhibition, so added the mist!

This is really nice Glenn. The misty effect rather blocking the canal adds so much interest

  • The photo was one of Margaret’s – it was a few years ago. She and several artist colleagues went to Venice. As a proper starving artist I couldn’t afford to go! But Margaret let me use any of her photos and this was a lovely shot to work with. I did eight in all. On the opening night a couple bought two. I went to meet them while the paintings were being wrapped and the guy said to me how you could always tell when someone had personally experienced the atmosphere! What could I say!

I have to agree with Lois about the misty effect. Nicely done Glenn.

  • I liked the photo (see above) but I wanted to make the painting mine – if you know what I mean. I had the idea of the water taxi coming out of the mist with the sun catching the side of the buildings in the foreground – it worked – as well as making the painting a lot easier to do!

I recall that trip and kind of figured who’s photo you used. She had several really nice ones of the/various – canals. You did well by them with a creative touch all your own.

  • I’ll let you see the others in due course Lois.

Impressed with the Italian and the painting, Glenn. I LOVE misty scenes and this one is a beauty. Wonderful light on the buildings on the right.

  • Thanks Bev. I did this a couple of years ago and am pleasantly surprised how well it has stood the test of time.
