Down in the Forest where Nobody Goes... by Glenn Marshall

Down in the Forest where Nobody Goes... by

This was a scene I passed nearly every day for twelve years – I was always going to paint day!
When I eventually got round to it the painting took on a life of its own. What had been a pleasant scene took on a slight air of mystery and almost menace. Anyway – I always liked it though it was a long time before the original finally sold!
Watercolour done on Saunders Waterford 140lb NOT with Windsor & Newton artists paints.

I am not sure about the blues but the reflections make the overall effect quite nice.

  • Thanks Lois

A painting that takes control? Sounds familiar. You managed to tame the beast in magnificent style

  • Thanks John – nearly managed the taming!

I feel an ethereal sense of mystery and at the same time a delight in the central light source, Glenn. A wonderful job of applying the masking! It takes real talent to handle it so well.

  • Thanks Pat. I do use masking fluid a lot – it is a very useful tool..when it works!
