I have done several workshops in the Ship Inn this year.It is a great venue for art and we enjoyed the hospitality of Lou, Charlie and Graham.
The pub has been painted a few times before so I wanted to do something a bit different – hence the snowy nocturne!
The painting is based on a photo by my wife and the idea is to hang the painting and photograph side by side in the Ship.
This watercolour was painted on Saunders Waterford 140lb NOT with Windsor & Newton artists paints.

As a painter of light, legend and landscape I am indebted to the wonderful medium of watercolour which gives me the versatility to incorporate many different styles in to my work.

Love the night painting! Trees in silhouette, light at the window!
I once had dinner at a place called “The Ship Inn” on Guy Fawkes night.
It was a party and they burned a dummy. Here in Milford, New Jersey. : )

  • Who is the only man ever to enter the Houses of Parliament with the right intentions? – you guessed it – Guy Fawkes!

No more welcoming sight than a orange-lit pub on a cold winter evening with the promise of a roaring fire and a good pint of bitter. Thanks for the memory Glenn!!

  • You’re welcome! Cheers

    Looks so beautiful

  • Thanks. I’ve often thought that we overlook beauty too easily if it is our doorstep – but a little snow, a little moonlight…and our ‘local’ is beautiful.

Glenn! I don’t know why I’ve not discovered you here before now, but I’m fast becoming a fan of yours! And this wintery snow scene has such an appeal – your rendition of the light in the windows and the texture on the wall and buildings is so true to life. A lovely painting!

  • Thanks Pat. I’ve just come back from a meal there – it was excellent – no snow though!
